Where Can Mediation Sessions Take Place?

General Contact Form

We understand that life is busy, and when situations feel urgent or emotionally challenging, finding the time and space to address them can feel overwhelming.

Mediation is designed to be flexible, responsive, and accessible, so you can engage in the process in a way that works for you and your family.

Sessions can take place in a variety of environments, including face-to-face meetings, online (video) sessions, and, where appropriate, telephone mediation (typically used as a last resort and in line with professional guidance).
Online mediation offers particular flexibility, allowing you to join from a private space at home, your workplace, or another suitable setting. In some circumstances, this may also include joining from a private vehicle, provided that confidentiality and privacy can be fully maintained.

All mediation delivered by Family Mediation Council registered mediators follows the Code of Practice. This means that, wherever you join from, we will ensure the process remains:

✔ Confidential and private
✔ Safe and respectful
✔ Fair and balanced for everyone involved

To protect the integrity of the process, mediation cannot take place in public or shared environments—such as cafés, open spaces, or any form of public transport—where conversations could be overheard.

Our priority is to create a space where you feel comfortable, supported, and able to focus on what matters most.

We will always work with you to ensure that mediation takes place in a way that is both practical and professionally appropriate.’
