What is addiction?
Addiction is a dysfunction that to most is greatly misunderstood, not recognised in some cases, and debilitating curse to most who suffer from it.
It involves reward, motivation, and memory. It mainly concerns a craving for a substance, or a behaviour, usually it can involve an obsessive, or even compulsive search for a reward at any cost such that the individual doesn’t concern themselves with the consequences.
More often than not, an addiction will:
- Cause the individual an inability to control the amount of the substance taken and prevent them from stopping their addictive behaviour.
- Increased their desire for the substance.
- Dismiss how their behaviour and misuse may be causing problems for themselves and those around them.
For those struggling with substance misuse, or alcohol addiction, Mediation MK offer you the support and service that can help you gain an understanding of the reason behind your misuse and deal with the outcome.
When you come to realise that the way we behave impacts negatively on others because they perceive us as angry, overpowering, aggressive, then you may realise that you have an issue with anger management.
This can be debilitating to the point that it alienates you from the world with regard to friends, family, loved ones, work, colleagues to name but a few areas.
Dealing with Anger Management is help control and regulate this behaviour so you can deal with individuals, or situations that can cause negative outcomes.
Being an active emotion, anger drives the person who feels it to respond usually in a negative manner. Gaining control of this emotion is key to controlling anger management and allows you to achieve the outcome you really want.
At Mediation MK we have professionals who can help you.

For many of us, we may from time to time feel a bit low, out of sorts, even sad. Does this make us depressed? Depression is defined as a mental illness that is identified with through out world. Interestingly enough, any one of us can become depressed and in many cases not even realise that we are. Depression is treatable and it does not have to be for the rest of your life.
It is very common and on average one in ten people suffer from it. It isn’t something that we suffer from forever in one episode. It is widely regarded that people suffer from depression in different ways, and there are a myriad of reasons for why people have it. Perhaps a stressful event, the way you live, even the way in which you were raised can be one of the many factors.
Ask yourself, is your lifestyle making you happy? Do you have an issue from your childhood that you can’t face or resolve? Do you feel so low you can’t face the world?
These a just a few of the questions raised by individuals who have suffered with depression.

Behind these are factors such as controlling, shaming, isolation, humiliation, criticising. For many, tolerating the abuser, or even accepting that is the ‘norm’ for you allows the abuser to persist in their behaviour.
We understand that when you need help to escape the abuser, you will be vulnerable and need a great deal of support. We also understand how difficulty this may be for you to actually do. Our team of experts will help you regain your identity and allow you to become the person you were always meant to be. Call us now on 01908 231 293 . We’re here for you.
Post-traumatic stress (PTSD)
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a recognised anxiety disorder that is caused by extremely stressful events in our lives. The individual can suffer a distressful event, or even a frightening event that can give rise to PTSD.
Some of the symptoms of PTSD can be guilt, ‘freezing’ in life: where the person cannot free themselves from the traumatic event, flashbacks, anguish and irritability which can give rise to isolation or ‘dropping out’ of the world. The impact of PTSD can be hugely damaging and can lead to behavioural problems or issues such as addictive behaviour, inability to sleep, impact our day to day lives.
At Mediation MK, we have the experience to help you if you feel you suffer with PTSD. Call us to book an appointment.
A phobia is a recognised anxiety disorder, usually considered as irrational, that can trigger fear, stress, or anxiety. Common phobias can be a fear of a person, object, an animal, or birds, or even a given situation.
Some of the common symptoms of phobias are:
An inability to control the feelings of the irrational fear that may be exaggerated by the phobia. For example, a fear of spiders, pigeons, snakes. Loss of the ability to function when you are exposed by the trigger. For example, ‘freezing’ or suffering a panic attack when trying to get into a lift. Avoiding the fear altogether, giving rise to an isolation at all costs.
We offer dedicated treatment for phobias at Mediation MK. We are happy to discuss these with you. Call us today for a consultation.
